Everything in the Scripture is there, in the way it is, for a reason. That would include why we are to remember the Sabbath. This is why we are told to not add to or take away from His Word.
Do we truly "fear" Elohim? Or have we become so comfortable with Him we feel we no longer need to abide by His Word?
In the Old Testament (Tanak) there are many "types". The tabernacle is filled with types. They are shadows of what is in the heavens. It has also been said the 7 days of creation can represent types (that would be an interesting study all on its own). The 7th day represents the 1000 year reign of Messiah. Who are we then to change His appointed times and days? You can see the importance of following what He desires rather than what we desire. The 8th day represents (or 1st day following the 7th) something else entirely. Did you know that when Israel entered into the promised land it was a representation? It represented entering into His rest.
The Sabbath is one of Elohim's great theological gems. It is the 'Crown of His Creation', (it was made last but it was the only day that was both blessed and called holy or set apart by Elohim; Gen. 2:1-3). It is also the day of Redemption or Salvation, a very fitting epitaph to the Resurrection of Yeshua. In Deut. 5:12-15, the reason Elohim gives for keeping the Sabbath day holy is because He delivered Israel from Egypt, and the Sabbath day was to typify or reflect that salvation experience. For Yeshua to resurrect on Sabbath would coincide with the Sabbath's two major themes of Creation and Redemption (see also Ex. 20:8-11).
For Sunday to obliterate the Sabbath of God, the New Testament would have to contain explicit statements and theological reasons for such an enormous shift of biblical reality. A passing reference to Sunday cannot provide sufficient justification for overturning the Sabbath.
If we are to be Bereans we can find facts that would lead us to believe we who hold Sunday as the day of rest have been duped!!! Satan, has had in place a counterfeit for what Elohim desires since the very beginning. We have been led astray and have lips that speak as if we are close to Elohim but our actions are what demonstrate those things we believe and hold dear. If we are holding to a Sunday day of rest we are tossing aside the very Words of Elohim Himself for what we desire.
Isa 29:13 And יהוה says, "Because this people has drawn near with its mouth, and with its lips they have esteemed Me, and it has kept its heart far from Me, and their fear of Me has become a command of men that is taught1! Footnote: 1Mt. 15:8-9, Mk. 7:6-7.
Jer 16:19 O יהוה, my strength and my stronghold and my refuge, in the day of distress the gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth and say, "Our fathers have inherited only falsehood, futility, and there is no value in them."1 Footnote: 1See Ps. 147:19, Isa. 2:3, Isa. 60:2-3, John 4:22, Rom. 2:20, Rom. 3:2, Rom. 9:4.
We must be careful. Even Yahshua has told us there will be those who truly believe they have been working for Elohim and yet they are denied entrance into His kingdom.
Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Before I leave you for today I would also like you to think about this one
The kings signet has upon it
1. Who he is
2. His Authority
3. His Kingdom
The Ten Commandments are a transcript of the character of Elohim. It should be no surprise to discover that they contain the seal of the Yahweh Elohim. While some commandments contain Yahweh's name, the fourth commandment alone contains all three elements of a kings signet.
Exo 20:8 "Remember the Sabbath day, to set it apart.
Exo 20:9 "Six days you labour, and shall do all your work,
Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath1 of יהוה your Elohim. You do not do any work – you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. Footnote: 1There are other Sabbaths, but this is the weekly Sabbath.
Exo 20:11 "For in six days יהוה made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore יהוה blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart.
The elements that make up the seal of Yahweh are found in verse 11: Yahweh's name; His authority—made (Creator), His region of governance—heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is.
There is a most important reason why the seal of the living God is located in the fourth commandment. This commandment commences,
Exo 20:8 "Remember the Sabbath day, to set it apart
There is only one manner in which we can truly keep the Sabbath and that is set-apartness. In order to keep the Sabbath set-apart, men must themselves be set-apart.
1Pe 1:15 instead, as the One who called you is set-apart, so you also should become set-apart in all behaviour, 1Pe 1:16 because it has been written, "Be set-apart, for I am set-apart."
It is little wonder that we as, Torah Observers refer to Friday as preparation day. It is a day to examine each heart and make right any wrongs so that Sabbath can be kept in set-apartness unto Yahweh. It is also used to prepare the household in order to be able to rest on Sabbath. Thus the Sabbath is the key to obedience to the Law of Elohim, for it is only as we obey each one of the other nine commandments that we can keep the Sabbath holy. The Sabbath commandment with its intrinsic call to a holy life is the only commandment which centers on our total character. Thus it is most appropriate that Elohim placed His seal within this commandment, for the seal of the living El is Messiah's character within the heart.
Indeed the entire Scriptures has as its theme Elohim's loving offer of the gift of His seal. This is the purpose for its presence in the very first verse of Scripture. It is the reason that it is found in the very last message that Elohim in His love gives to mankind.
When Messiah related the signs of His coming to His disciples, He made a very important promise which was also a prophecy.
It will be observed that at this time Messiah did not specify the precise content of this last message to mankind to be presented prior to His Second Coming. However, in the Book of Revelation this message is expounded. This is the last of the three angels’ messages. The introduction to these messages specifically states that they are the gospel messages to be taken worldwide.
Rev 14:6 And I saw another messenger flying in mid-heaven, holding the everlasting Good News to announce to those dwelling on the earth, even to every nation and tribe and tongue and people, Rev 14:7 saying with a loud voice, "Fear Elohim and give esteem to Him, because the hour of His judgment has come. And worship Him who made the heaven and the earth, and sea, and fountains of water.
If we examine the first of these three messages we discover that it contains the seal of the living Elohim. Indeed the final portion, referring to the all-important subject of worship, is almost an exact quotation of the last portion of the fourth commandment.
Rev 14:7 saying with a loud voice, "Fear Elohim and give esteem to Him, because the hour of His judgment has come. And worship Him who made the heaven and the earth, and sea, and fountains of water.
Notice that this message contains the three mandatory elements of the seal—God’s name (God), His authority (made), and the territory of His rulership (heaven and earth, the sea and the fountains of water).
Indeed the great purpose of Scripture is to offer to every human being the seal of the living Elohim, for Elohim is unwilling that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9).
The Sabbath will be observed in the new earth, for only set-apart people reside there.
Isa 66:22 "For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make stand before Me," declares יהוה, "so your seed and your name shall stand.
Isa 66:23 "And it shall be that from New Moon to New Moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before Me," declares יהוה.
If Sabbath observance is the external sign of the seal of the living Elohim, then clearly the adherence to a counterfeit Sabbath, one which Elohim has never blessed or hallowed, is the external sign of the mark of the beast as we come to the close of earth’s history. Each symbolizes the character of its founder. The seventh-day Sabbath was instituted by Elohim; the counterfeit sabbath promoted in the pope’s 1998 Apostolic Letter, Dies Domini, entered the Christian church via paganism, as confirmed by the Baptist author, Dr. Edward Hiscox.
"There was and is a commandment to keep holy the Sabbath day, but that Sabbath Day was not Sunday. It will be said, however, and with some show of triumph, that the Sabbath was transferred from the seventh to the first day of the week. . . . Where can the record of such a transaction be found? Not in the New Testament—absolutely not. . . . Of course, I quite well know that Sunday did come into use in early Christian history as a religious day, as we learn from the Christian Fathers, and other sources. But what a pity that it comes branded with the mark of paganism, and christened with the name of the sun god, when adopted and sanctioned by the papal apostasy, and bequeathed as a sacred legacy to Protestantism!" (Dr. Edward T. Hiscox [author of the Baptist Manual], Source Book, pp. 513, 514)
