Warning and Reward

Psa 19:11 Also, Your servant is warned by them, In guarding them there is great reward.
Psa 19:12 Who discerns mistakes? Declare me innocent from those that are secret,
Psa 19:13 Also keep Your servant back from presumptuous ones, Do not let them rule over me. Then shall I be perfect, and innocent of great transgression.
Psa 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be pleasing before You, O יהוה, my rock and my redeemer.

SERVANT:
From H5647; a servant: - X bondage, bondman, [bond-] servant, (man-) servant.

WARNED:
zaw-har'

A primitive root; to gleam; figuratively to enlighten (by caution): - admonish, shine, teach, (give) warn (-ing).
1158)  ( ZR) ac: Spread co: ? ab: ?: The pictograph represents the harvest. The is the picture of the head of a man. Combined these mean "harvest of heads". After the grain has been harvested and the heads of grain have been broken open, the heads are thrown into the wind where the chaff is blown away and the seed falls to the ground where they can be gathered.

The Commands and testimonies are used to warn the servants of Elohim.  Warned of what?  If, as in I Jn the commands serve as a definition of what sin is, it stands to reason the commands then serve as a warning of those same sins.

Rom 6:22 But now, having been set free from sin, and having become servants of Elohim, you have your fruit resulting in set-apartness, and the end, everlasting life.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the favourable gift of Elohim is everlasting life in Messiah יהושע our Master.

I think it would be important here to point out the problem many were having with trying to keep the commands in order to bring them salvation.  That was not the purpose of the commands.  The purpose is to point the need of salvation  through faith in Messiah.  First the inward heart needs to change by faith in the atoning work of Yahshua Messiah and then the following of His commands as a demonstration of our love for Him.  This then is the guarding of His commands.
It amazes me the number of times that it is mentioned to be on guard or to guard the commands and right-rulings of Elohim.

Deu 6:3 "And you shall hear, O Yisra’ĕl, and shall guard to do, that it might be well with you, and that you increase greatly as יהוה Elohim of your fathers has spoken to you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

שׁמר
shâmar

A primitive root; properly to hedge about (as with thorns), that is, guard; generally to protect, attend to, etc.: - beware, be circumspect, take heed (to self), keep (-er, self), mark, look narrowly, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save (self), sure, (that lay) wait (for), watch (-man).

If we take and look at the word pictures of the Hebrew we can find an interesting definition of this word

Sheen: means to consume
Mem:   is might
Reysh:  highest, most important

Def.:  To consume with ones might or life the words that come from the most high.  Or
To consume with ones might or life that which is most important (the commands).

Deu 4:6 "And you shall guard and do them, for this is your wisdom and your understanding before the eyes of the peoples who hear all these laws, and they shall say, ‘Only a wise and understanding people is this great nation!’

What is our wisdom and understanding?  Yahweh Elohim's commands.
We are to make these things known to our children and children's children
We are to learn and guard to do them.
It becomes righteousness for us when we guard to do them
Deu 6:25 ‘And it is righteousness for us when we guard to do all this command before יהוה our Elohim, as He has commanded us.’
We are told it is a demonstration of our love for Yashua when we guard and do them

Joh 14:23 יהושע answered him, "If anyone loves Me, he shall guard My Word. And My Father shall love him, and We shall come to him and make Our stay with him.

Joh 14:24 "He who does not love Me does not guard My Words. And the Word which you hear is not Mine but of the Father Who sent Me.

We do not do this on our own.  Elohim guards them with us.  Now get this what happens if we fear Yahweh enough to guard His commands?
He then turns around and guards us.
Deu 7:6 "For you are a set-apart people to יהוה your Elohim. יהוה your Elohim has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a treasured possession above all the peoples on the face of the earth.
Deu 7:9 "And you shall know that יהוה your Elohim, He is Elohim, the trustworthy Ěl guarding covenant and kindness for a thousand generations with those who love Him, and those who guard His commands,
Deu 7:11 "And you shall guard the command, and the laws, and the right-rulings which I command you today, to do them.
Deu 7:12 "And it shall be, because you hear these right-rulings, and shall guard and do them, that יהוה your Elohim shall guard with you the covenant and the kindness which He swore to your fathers,
Deu 7:13 and shall love you and bless you and increase you, and shall bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you. Deu 7:14 "Blessed are you above all peoples – there is not going to be a barren man or a barren woman among you or among your livestock.

Wow!!  Pretty amazing.

What a wonderful Elohim we serve.
And if we are serving Him in this way and diligently teaching as we walk, our children then desire to serve Him down through the generations.  He shows Himself faithful and true to His word.

Mat 19:17 And He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except One – Elohim. But if you wish to enter into life, guard the commands."1 Footnote:1See Lk. 10:28, John 12:50, Rev. 22:14.

Joh 15:10 "If you guard My commands, you shall stay in My love,1 even as I have guarded My Father’s commands and stay in His love. Footnote: 1See 14:15.
1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of Elohim, when we love Elohim and guard His commands.

Psa 19:10 More desirable than gold, Than much fine gold; And sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.
Psa 19:11 Also, Your servant is warned by them, In guarding them there is great reward.
Psa 19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psa 19:11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward

Over the past several days we have looked at the meanings of verses 7-9.  They point us in the direction we are to go if we desire to serve Elohim with our whole hearts.  King David tells us there is nothing finer or more desirable than to observe to do His commands

Psa 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Psa 19:8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psa 19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

Today's churchianty tells us we do not have to keep the commands because they have been done away with.  If you look at the context of the verses they use to support their claims their arguments fall away.
Peter also warns us to be extremely careful how we interpret Paul as he is an extremely deep thinker and we can become confused in what he is saying.  Have you ever heard your preacher tell you this?
2Pe 3:15 and reckon the patience of our Master as deliverance, as also our beloved brother Sha’ul wrote to you, according to the wisdom given to him,
2Pe 3:16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them concerning these matters, in which some are hard to understand,1 which those who are untaught and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do also the other Scriptures. Footnote: 1See 1 Cor. 11:6.
2Pe 3:17 You, then, beloved ones, being forewarned, watch, lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the delusion of the lawless,

Scripture tells us plainly the definition of sin is lawlessness or put It in Hebrew "Torahlessness"

1Jn 3:4 Everyone doing sin also does lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

Something is definitely wrong in churchianity when they misrepresent what the Scriptures plainly teach.  Messiah Himself plainly taught the way to show our love of Him is through obedience to what?  To His commands.  Messiah only taught those things His Father said.  They were in agreement with the Old Testament.
If you want to study the words given at Mt Sinai you will find in actuality it was a covenant agreement given between a bridegroom and his bride.  It was a covenant given to a set-apart people who were to be a nation of priests.  Elohim's representatives on Earth.
Joh 14:10 "Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak from Myself. But the Father who stays in Me does His works.
Joh 14:11 "Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, otherwise believe Me because of the works themselves.
Joh 14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he shall do also. And greater works than these he shall do, because I go to My Father.
Joh 14:13 "And whatever you ask in My Name, that I shall do, in order that the Father might be esteemed in the Son.
Joh 14:14 "If you ask whatever in My Name, I shall do it.
Joh 14:15 "If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.1 Footnote: 1See Ex. 20:6, vv. 21&23, 1 John 5:2-3, 2 John v. 6.
I have said previously my eyes were opened when I started to be obedient to the 7th day Sabbath.  I would encourage you to give it a try.  Some say "well I set one day in 7 aside to rest" or "my Sabbath is on such and such a day".  I have learned to observe to guard His commands.  What I do is ask what is the heart of Elohim in this matter.  Was He specific to what He desires?  If He was very specific in detailing the way He desires us to honor His command then we should be specific in our obedience to that command.
He was very specific about how we are to not put anything before Him
He was very specific about the Sabbath.  In fact He warned us NOT TO FORGET.  In Daniel we are warned that in future there will be someone or some agency that will change the times.  In fact if you look at history it was the church of Rome who changed the day of Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday in honor of the sun.  The Roman church proudly states they did this after the council of Nicaea sometime after 300 AD.  It did not happen after the resurrection which is a lie and deception propagated to assuage our questions concerning when the resurrection actually took place.  The same applys to churchianity's holidays.  They actually took pagan festivals and added themes from churchianity to them to make the appear holy.  Isaiah tells us when we actually wake up will we say we have inherited lies and deception from our fathers.  Do you find the commands something to be desires?  Or do you turn away from them as something you don't need to follow because of grace?   Where do you stand?  Are you on shaky ground or solid?  Yes, Salvation is by faith alone.  But the demonstration of our love for Him is through obedience.  Now I will back up and take you to the Scriptures.
Exo 20:3 "You have no other mighty ones against My face.
Exo 20:4 "You do not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of that which is in the heavens above, or which is in the earth beneath, or which is in the waters under the earth,
Exo 20:5 you do not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, יהוה your Elohim am a jealous Ěl, visiting the crookedness of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
Exo 20:6 but showing kindness to thousands, to those who love Me and guard My commands.
Exo 20:7 "You do not bring1 the Name of יהוה your Elohim to naught, for יהוה does not leave the one unpunished who brings His Name to naught. Footnote: 1Or lift up, or take.
Exo 20:8 "Remember the Sabbath day, to set it apart.
Exo 20:9 "Six days you labour, and shall do all your work,
Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath1 of יהוה your Elohim. You do not do any work – you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. Footnote: 1There are other Sabbaths, but this is the weekly Sabbath.
Exo 20:11 "For in six days יהוה made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore יהוה blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart.

Concerning the times:
an 7:25 and it speaks words against the Most High, and it wears out the set-apart ones of the Most High, and it intends to change appointed times1 and law2, and they are given into its hand for a time and times and half a time. Footnotes: 1This is another word for festivals. 2Changing the law amounts to lawlessness. Read in 2 Thess. 2:3-12 about "the lawless one" and the "lawlessness" which would take over (indeed, it has already taken over!) in the set-apart place, and also about Messiah’s judgment upon the lawless "prophets" in Mt. 7:23, and the lawless "believers" in Mt. 13:41!

concerning adding pagan worship to the worship of Elohim
Deu 6:14 "Do not go after other mighty ones, the mighty ones of the peoples who are all around you,
Deu 6:15 for יהוה your Elohim is a jealous Ěl in your midst, lest the displeasure of יהוה your Elohim burn against you, then He shall destroy you from the face of the earth.

Deu 12:28 "Guard, and obey all these words which I command you, that it might be well with you and your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the eyes of יהוה your Elohim.
Deu 12:29 "When יהוה your Elohim does cut off from before you the nations which you go to dispossess, and you dispossess them and dwell in their land,
Deu 12:30 guard yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire about their mighty ones, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their mighty ones? And let me do so too.’1 Footnote: 1See also 18:9, Lev. 18:3, Jer.10:2, Ezek. 11:12 & 20:32, Eph. 4:17, and 1 Peter 4:3
Deu 12:31 "Do not do so to יהוה your Elohim, for every abomination which יהוה hates they have done to their mighty ones, for they even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their mighty ones.

Deu 12:32 "All the words I am commanding you, guard to do it – do not add to it nor take away from it.1 Footnote: 1See also 4:2, Prov. 30:6, Rev. 22:18-19.

We are given ample warning not to take away from the Word of Elohim.  He remains the same yesterday, today and forever.  If He is telling us not to take away from His word and we are being told by churchianity we no longer have to worry about doing His Law, isn't that taking away from His word?  If we no longer observe His set-apart day of the Sabbath but rest on the 1st day of the week isn't that not only taking away from His word but also adding to it?
Some very interesting things we need to consider if we desire to follow Yahshua Messiah.
Rev 3:15 "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I would that you were cold or hot. Rev 3:16 "So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am going to vomit you out of My mouth.

Mat 7:22 "Many shall say to Me in that day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and done many mighty works in Your Name?’
Mat 7:23 "And then I shall declare to them, ‘I never knew you, depart from Me, you who work lawlessness!’1 Footnote: 1 See v. 15.

Fear Points The Way

Psalm 19:
Psa 19:9 The fear of יהוה is clean, standing forever; The right-rulings of יהוה are true, They are righteous altogether,
Fear:
yir'âh
BDB Definition:

Once again we see something within these first verses that points us in a direction which we should go.  This time it is FEAR of Elohim.  Before it was the Torah or the instructions of Abba El for his bride or set apart people.

Let's look at what some other scriptures have to tell us about the fear of Elohim.
Pro 1:7 The fear of יהוה is the beginning of knowledge1; Fools despise wisdom and discipline. Footnote: 1See 9:10, Ps. 111:10.
Pro 1:29 "Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of יהוה,
Pro 2:5 Then you would understand the fear of יהוה

, And find the knowledge of Elohim.
Pro 3:7 Do not be wise in your own eyes1; Fear יהוה and turn away from evil2. Footnotes: 1Isa. 5:21 2Job 28:28.
Pro 9:10 The fear of יהוה is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Set-apart One is understanding1. Footnote: See 1:7.
Pro 10:27 The fear of יהוה prolongs days, But the years of the wrong ones are shortened.
Pro 14:27 The fear of יהוה is a fountain of life, To turn away from the snares of death.
Pro 16:6 By kindness and truth crookedness is pardoned. And in the fear of יהוה one turns away from evil.

I think with these you can get the idea, when we fear Yahweh Elohim, we desire to do that which pleases Him.  Our lives are consumed with guarding His instructions.
Deu 6:1 "And this is the command, the laws and right-rulings which יהוה your Elohim has commanded, to teach you to do in the land which you are passing over to possess,
Deu 6:2 so that you fear יהוה your Elohim, to guard all His laws and His commands which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days be prolonged.
Deu 6:3 "And you shall hear, O Yisra’ĕl, and shall guard to do, that it might be well with you, and that you increase greatly as יהוה Elohim of your fathers has spoken to you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
It is not what we think we should do to please Him.  It is not giving the excuse to harbor our sin saying it is ok to do this because He knows our hearts.  It is specifically during this time of year I hear that phrase so often "He knows my heart, so it is ok".    Years ago the prince of preachers, C. H. Spurgeon spoke about the evils of Christmas.  The churches did not celebrate this pagan festival then.  Over the course of time churchianity has given way to this overpowering pagan celebration.  Here are some more Scriptures regarding our hearts.  (I will post more on this pagan festival later).

Pro 21:2 All a man’s ways are right in his own eyes, But יהוה weighs the hearts.
Isa 44:18 They do not know nor understand, for He has smeared their eyes from seeing, and their hearts from understanding.
Jer 4:4 "Circumcise yourselves unto יהוה, and take away the foreskins of your hearts, you men of Yehuḏah and inhabitants of Yerushalayim, lest My wrath come forth like fire and burn, with none to quench it, because of the evil of your deeds."
Eze 11:21 "But to those whose hearts walk after the heart of their disgusting matters and their abominations, I shall recompense their deeds on their own heads," declares the Master יהוה.
Eze 14:3 "Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and have put the stumbling-block of their crookedness before their face. Should I let them inquire of Me at all?
Jer 17:9 "The heart is crooked1 above all, and desperately sick – who shall know it? Footnote: 1See 7:24, 16:12, 18:12, 23:17.

Now then, how important are the feelings of our hearts to Abba El?  Should it not be that our hearts should be seeking out how He feels about the things we do?  We should be searching the Scriptures to validate the things we do not just go by our feelings.  There are many things I used to do that Scripture tells me was an abomination to Him.  I have had to learn it is more important to give up those things I desired to do in order to live a life that is pleasing to Him of fearing Him.  I  have had to learn to fear Him in order to be pointing my life in the right direction.  Scripture speaks so clearly on so many things.  My true journey in understanding the Scriptures came when I set aside the man made Sabbath of Sunday to be in obedience to His command of the 7th day Sabbath.  I tell you it was then my eyes were truly opened.  The fear of Elohim, obedience to His commands, even though it brings heart ache and separation from family and friends has been the beginning of a new understanding of the totality of Scripture.  It is like having the blinders taken off from my eyes and now Scripture is finally beginning to make sense in its totality.  We cannot separate the New from the Old.  The New is commentary on the Old.  We cannot understand how far we are from Elohim without the Old.  Until churchianity is willing to walk in the Old paths  they will continue to be weak and not make a difference in this world.  Let me leave you with this word that has made the whole difference over the years.
Isa 58:1 "Cry aloud, do not spare. Lift up your voice like a ram’s horn. Declare to My people their transgression, and the house of Yaʽaqoḇ their sins.
Isa 58:2 "Yet they seek Me day by day, and delight to know My ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and did not forsake the right-ruling of their Elohim. They ask of Me rulings of righteousness, they delight in drawing near to Elohim.
Isa 58:3 They say, ‘Why have we fasted, and You have not seen? Why have we afflicted our beings, and You took no note?’ "Look, in the day of your fasting you find pleasure, and drive on all your labourers.
Isa 58:4 "Look, you fast for strife and contention, and to strike with the fist of wrongness. You do not fast as you do this day, to make your voice heard on high.
Isa 58:5 "Is it a fast that I have chosen, a day for a man to afflict his being? Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush, and to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Do you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to יהוה?
Isa 58:6 "Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loosen the tight cords of wrongness, to undo the bands of the yoke, to exempt the oppressed, and to break off every yoke?
Isa 58:7 "Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked, and cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh?
Isa 58:8 "Then your light would break forth like the morning, your healing spring forth speedily. And your righteousness shall go before you, the esteem of יהוה would be your rear guard.
Isa 58:9 "Then, when you call, יהוה would answer; when you cry, He would say, ‘Here I am.’ "If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and the speaking of unrighteousness,
Isa 58:10 if you extend your being to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted being, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness be as noon.
Isa 58:11 "Then יהוה would guide you continually, and satisfy your being in drought, and strengthen your bones. And you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
Isa 58:12 "And those from among you shall build the old waste places. You shall raise up the foundations of many generations. And you would be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
Isa 58:13 "If you do turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My set-apart day, and shall call the Sabbath ‘a delight,’ the set-apart day of יהוה ‘esteemed,’ and shall esteem it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words,
Isa 58:14 then you shall delight yourself in יהוה. And I shall cause you to ride on the heights of the earth, and feed you with the inheritance of Yaʽaqoḇ your father. For the mouth of יהוה has spoken!"
